There are no major studies of finasteride for acne underway at the moment. However, another antiandrogen, flutamide, (Euflex), is prescribed in hyperandrogenism states like androgenetic alopecia, hirsutism, and acne related to elevated plasma DHEAS (dihydroepiandrosternal sulfate) or free testosterone.
